Mobile Pneumatic Robot for Demining
نویسندگان
چکیده
AbstmctThe enormous amount of anti-personal land mines scattered over many countries worldwide is a major humanitarian problem asking for an efRcient solution at an affordable cost. This article describes a new robust and low cost mobile robot that can transport equipment with about 1.5 its own weight over natural terrains with inclinations superior to 40 degrees. The robot mechanical structure is optimised for precisely scanning large areas of natural environments with land mine detection sensors. The paper also describes the control architecture of the robot with possibility to correct the motion direction. The land mine sensing system of the robot is presented.

Multisensor Demining Robot
The paper describes an advanced multisensor demining robot. The robot transport system is based on a simple structure using pneumatic drive elements. The robot has robust design and can carry demining equipment up to 100 kg over rough terrains. Due to the adaptive possibilities of pedipulators to obstacles, the robot can adjust the working position of the demining sensors while searching for mi...
متن کاملA modular control architecture for semi- autonomous navigation
Humanitarian demining is still a highly laborintensive and high-risk operation. Advanced sensors and mechanical aids can significantly reduce the demining time. In this context, it is the aim to develop a humanitarian demining mobile robot which is able to scan semi-automatically a minefield. This paper discusses the development of a control scheme for such a semi-autonomous mobile robot for hu...
متن کامل9 Development of Deminer - Assisting Robotic
Robot operation and interaction in unstructured environment is difficult. The problem becomes even more difficult if the environment is hazardous, presents a potentially wide temperature range, and is subject to rain, dust and other natural factors. Such conditions are typical in minefields. Current demining technology is slow, costly and dangerous, and has virtually not evolved in the last 60 ...
متن کاملIntegrated Mobile Robot System for Landmine Detection
In this paper, we discuss the integration process of a mobile robot and multi-channel metal detector system intended for humanitarian demining applications within the EU FP7 TIRAMISU project. The paper describes how a standard tele-operated Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) robot was upgraded with electronics, sensors, computing power, motor control units and power sources, such that it becomes...
متن کاملExtraction of Roads From Out Door Images
A few separate initiatives from the robotics community to design and prove a mechanical automated solution have taken place. Here at the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana, in Colombia, we are working in this problem: on a previous project the mobile robot Ursula was developed (Rizo et al., 2003); and now we are working in a new mobile robot called Amaranta (Figure1). One part of the humanitarian...
